Ngorongoro National Park

Ngorongoro National Park

NgorongoroCrater-1This is one of the largest unbroken caldera in the world and has been described as one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. It accounts for just a 10th of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater is home to many species of wild game and birds. The crater is home to almost every species of African plains mammal, including the endangered black rhino, and the densest population of predators in Africa. Majority of the crater elephants are mainly bulls, the bird-life, which includes the flamingo, is mainly seasonal.
Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist.
